Driver Education Initative Scholarship

The position of being behind the wheel comes with many responsibilities; it is a huge responsibility that should be taken into consideration more often. There are an “average of 34,000” Americans who lose their lives because of uneducated, unthoughtful, and unsafe drivers. If people understood the grief that comes along with the loss of a loved one, they would understand their mistakes when driving. If we took the time to educate ourselves about the importance of being a safe driver, we could reduce the number of lives lost, another bonus is we could save more money involving our insurance! Being educated about how to drive correctly and safely is a huge responsibility that should be thoroughly discussed with new drivers who are about to get their license If our new drivers knew how to drive correctly, we would have fewer accidents; if our new drivers knew the consequences of drunk driving and the lingering regret, it could potentially stop the number of victims from increasing yearly. Teaching our drivers the significance of safety is important, but the first step is getting more recognition of the concept. From there working on better driving skills. There are many methods that can reduce the number of lives lost, ranging from the more extreme to not so extreme remedies. For example, we could not give licenses until 18 when children are a little older and understand the roads, signs, responsibilities, and consequences of driving. Driving is no joke. A less extreme way would be we could make drivers ed a requirement course in high school and teach the children from there about the ins and outs of driving, specifically how to do it safely, plus its free knowledge. I’ve had family members, myself too, who have been in multiple accidents. Although my family members never lost their lives, they were still put at risk because of unsafe driving from them and from the other drivers around them; even though their lives were not taken, the abundant amount of terror and uncertainty I felt in eel in your bones when you’re unsure of their wellbeing is truly one I will not forget. If I take into consideration my own feelings towards my family being hurt, I can also take into consideration others on the road and become a better driver myself. I can look into how to safely handle situations, how to avoid any wrecks (if possible), how to consider my options whether it’s safe to drive or not, to keep myself and others safe. I can also relay information I learn to my family and friends to make them a better/safer driver. Being behind the wheel is a huge responsibility, but learning about the safety tips and consequences of making poor choices while on the road will surely help drivers stay safe.Recognizing the lives almost taken and the lives lost every year, people will push for a better future of safe drivers.
