The Importance of Driving Safely
Drivers education is very important to me. Driving safely is one of the most important things in life, because anything can happen within a second that could change your life. If people take more driving courses at a young age, or driving safety classes, that could help reduce the number of deaths from driving because most deaths are caused by irresponsible driving. Much like people having to take a five hour course, or drivers ed, people should be required to take a driving safety course. Though some car accidents can’t be prevented, many can, and the rising generation should learn more about the responsibility of driving, especially when they are a teenager and just getting their license.
In order to reduce the number of deaths, people should learn more about the risks of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, take driving defense classes, and make sure people drive within the range of the speed limit. If people would just take one course in their life about driving safety, that could make a huge difference. People could even watch a video on YouTube of a bad car crash that occurred because of irresponsible driving to become more aware. I have experienced being in a car accident because of another person driving irresponsibly. It ensued because the person driving behind my family was looking down at his phone, and didn’t realize we had stopped. He totaled his car. Luckily everyone ended up being okay, but if he was driving faster it could have ended differently. I also know someone who was in a fatal accident. Her friend was driving, and she was in the passenger seat, not buckled. They were racing another friend that was driving next to them, both speeding, and her friend crossed into oncoming traffic, and her friend’s life was changed forever in a split second. The driver lived, and she died. She was only weeks away from graduating high school.
There are many different steps I can take to be a better and safer driver, and I would like to raise awareness about driving safety, so others can stay safe on the road too. I can, and will make sure I never drive under the influence, or get in a car with someone under the influence, make sure I follow all the rules of the road, like the speed limit, stop at stop signs, and not texting and driving, or doing something else that would distract me. I can also take driving defense classes, to learn what to do in a bad situation. To help others become a safer driver, I could spread awareness on social media explaining why it is so important to be a responsible driver, and show how a car accident has affected someone, or someone’s family. I have read many stories where a drunk driver has killed young teens driving, and a mother and father lose both of their kids. I take driving very seriously because I want to make sure I never take away anyone’s life because of driving selfishly.
