DMV Scholarship Essay 2020

Anyone can drive” is a common statement used by many people who are unaware about driving and its rules. Driving is a privilege that has to be earned through taking the proper classes necessary in order to receive a license. Most of our daily tasks in terms of travel would be so much more difficult if cars weren’t invented. There is definitely a risk in driving in that not all drivers are safe, which is why now it is mandatory to take classes before earning a license to drive any type of vehicle.

Drivers education is an essential part of our life in that it helps greatly to reduce the number of deaths that come as a result of driving. Taking drivers education before getting a license has shown a great decrease in deaths from car accidents as they serve to educate and inform people about ways to be safe. Driver’s education basically teaches people easier, more safer ways of driving basically anywhere, on small roads, on the highways, in big cities, etc. Within these driver’s education courses, one must take, they show things such as how to switch lanes in a safe manner, how to use signal lights, how to read signs on the road, what not to do while driving, etc. One of the keys points the DMV emphasizes when these driver’s education courses are taken is safety. Safety is the number one priority when it comes to driving so within the classes, individuals are taught how to use certain safety measures to ensure a cautious driving experience. A few steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving include not using your mobile device while driving, always keeping both hands on the steering wheel, don’t drink and drive, limiting the number of distractions around you, and always keeping your eyes on the road.

One of the main ways many people lose their life is caused by drinking and driving. I have heard countless numbers of stories where people lost their life due to this. As a matter of fact, within my Indian community I have heard of 2 or 3 people who died from such a tragic accident caused by a drunk driver. From this, one of the biggest ways to be safe while driving is to never drink. If you are drunk and need to get somewhere, the safest option would be to order an uber and get home safely. A few other steps that one can take in order to become a better and safer driver is trying to avoid driving at night, try avoiding driving with multiple distractions in the car such as more than one person with you, always wear a seatbelt, use signals when turning, and check your blind spot when switching lanes. In the end, no matter where you go or how long it takes you to get there, driving safely should become your number one priority when you sit in the car.
