Safe Driving
Safe Driving
The start of independence for a teen; getting a driver’s license. As we grew up, in our favorite movies, we watched as teens like us complete their driver’s test. But, it’s never like the movies. There is much more that goes into driving. It may come easily to someone to stop at red, slow on yellow, and go on green, but not for everyone. As drivers we need to abide by the traffic laws and prepare ourselves for dangerous drivers and situations on the road.
First thing that comes to driver safety is the driver’s familiarity with their car. Adjusting your mirrors, seat, and headrest is the way to start. Always wear your seatbelt and wear it correctly. Studies showed in 2017 that around 14,955 lives were saved from seat belt use in passenger vehicles. Consider the weather that day also. Weather conditions can easily affect your driving and others around you. Just know to drive a bit more slower and give more space for reaction time. Beware of your surroundings. On the road, obstacles can be unpredictable but can be avoided. By constantly shifting your eyes from ahead of the road to your mirrors, you can prepare yourself for a potential accident.
