The Importance of Driving Education

The Importance of Driving Education

Have you ever seen two cars collide at full speed and force, leaving the emergency services to pick up the scraps? Unfortunately, I have and the chances of this incident occurring would substantially decrease if the drivers involved had proper driving education. Drivers Education is a program where individuals are not only prepared for an incoming test, but more importantly supplements the knowledge that is stated in the manual. Most people passively read manuals, yet a Drivers Education Program experience allows for active learning and discussion. Individuals can benefit by gaining familiarity, knowledge, and essential road skills. Drivers Ed also educates you how to drive safely, follow the regulations of the road, and lessons that drivers on the road can benefit from today. These programs are especially important for younger individuals as they are most likely to get into incidents during the first year of driving. This can highly reduce the number of deaths as a result of driving because the program would have educated them on how to avoid these incidents.

Several steps can be taken to ensure the safety of everyone on the roads. First and foremost is to obey basic traffic laws. You do not want to be a reckless driver, who does not follow the rules and potentially hurt others. Speeds limits, stop signs, and traffic lights are not optional. If everyone obeys these laws, then less accidents and consequently less deaths will occur. Another step that you can take is by simply taking care of your vehicle. The maintenance of your car is one of easiest ways to ensure your safety on the road. Checking your mirrors, engine, tire pressure, and lights are all functioning properly can easily decrease the number of accidents. One of the most important steps all drivers can take is to avoid distractions. Simple things such as your phone, changing a song or eating food while driving can easily cause a crash. A phone call or a text message notification is not worth risking your life over. By taking these simple steps, drivers can increase the safety of themselves and all drivers by reducing the number of people dying each year due to driving.

Yes, these steps are easier said than done, as we are all humans and mistakes happen. I too have been in a couple car accidents, but it was nothing gruesome as everyone walked away safely. Parents have never taken driving, but perhaps if they did we would have avoided some of these petty crashes. With driving education you are taught the proper skills and knowledge, so that your chances of getting into these crashes are very low. This is why driver education is so important as it goes beyond the manual and offers a learning experience that creates knowledgeable drivers and more importantly, safer drivers. These crucial lessons are carried through with drivers even after the course is over and will create safer roads for themselves and everyone.
