Khush´s DMV essay

In this modern era, driving has become a third leg of humans. Driving is one of the most important and required skills in a metropolitan country like the USA. It would not be a hyperbole to call drivers education as a life skill.

Hence, I give drivers education the topmost priority. These days, deaths due to driving are catching high. These deaths are a result of lack of education to the common public. If more and more people are made aware of this, we can surely prevent the number of deaths. It helps us have rudimentary vehicle control and traffic maneuvers.

I feel that in order to reduce the number of deaths related to driving, we can educate people about the cons of drink and drive and texting while driving. We can also impose higher fines for ¨Drink and Drive¨ and ¨Using phones while driving¨ so that people fear making these fatal mistakes and can hence save their lives. One major option that I feel would be helpful is making a law which prohibits alcohol sales for car drivers. This can reduce drink and drive cases. We can even mandate an app for phone which turns the phone onto airplane mode when in the car. This law might be helpful in reducing phone usage while driving. Bewaring of blind spots can be helpful too. One should always drive rested and take breaks in between long drives. One can even play music and play audiobooks while driving in order to make driving fun.

With God’s grace, me or my family has never been involved in a car accident. Fortunately, I have never seen my family or friends driving irresponsibly. As we have just migrated to the USA from India, my family is still learning to drive. My mom and dad do not have a driving license yet but they do have a driving permit available which enables them to learn driving. I am sure my parents will get a license soon which will give us freedom to go out and explore the new world (for us). While learning to drive, my parents are extremely cautious of the rules and regulations. They respect all the rules and so do I.

In order to be a safe driver, I will follow the rules published by the DMV and I will surely encourage others to do the same. I will watch the weather and drive accordingly as driving in snow can be dangerous and difficult. I will focus on driving while driving and cut off all distractions. I will always plan my route and keep following the GPS system while driving. I will surely take breaks after long hours of driving. I will try to make driving enjoyable rather than making it a headache. In case of an emergency, I will always have an emergency kit handy in the car which would consist of bandages, antiseptic, cotton patches etc. I will also motivate my friends and family to do the same.

Therefore, I will take complete care while driving on the road.
