Driving Safely

In our day and age cars are essential tools to our daily lives. Which is why it’s important to teach teens the importance of driving safely. One of the methods used to safely assure that they are learning to drive safely is driver education. Driver education is required to everyone trying to get a license which is one of the reasons it’s so vital and important. Driving education brings awareness to all the laws and regulations posed by the government so that everyone can drive safely and not harm anyone. It gives you the textbook knowledge on everything you are supposed to know and how to act if there are any possible accidents like when your car starts to slide across the road. By having driver’s education you know how to act in cases of danger, thus giving you little to zero deaths in that accident.

There are already steps being taken to reduce the amount of deaths related to driving, but a step that can be taken is increasing the amount of money as a consequence if they cause an accident on the road or a highway, thus they are less incentivised to drive fast and cause any possible deaths. Another step that they can take is to go to junior/senior classes and give a presentation or speech about the importance of safe driving. Although some might not listen, there will be others who will pay attention and try to be as safe as possible.

I have never been in an accident, but my mom has been on a couple of occasions. It was not her fault all those times she crashed, but in both cases they are caused by carelessness and irresponsibility. My mom has gotten better now that she has experienced those accidents, but things that I can do myself to be a better driver are to drive with other people and prepare everything before I start driving. I usually drive with myself so I know how I go and do things, but having other people in my car, having their lives entrusted to me, to get them where they need to be is a huge task. Anything can happen while on the road, so driving with other people keeps me grounded that things might go array and I always have to be careful, but also make the ride as enjoyable as possible. When I’m getting ready to start driving I like to end conversations or at least tell the other person that I’ll be right back because I’m driving, as well as starting my music so that I can jam while I drive. All these things are things that people do while driving making it cause a lot of accidents and even death. I like to do it beforehand so those things do not happen.

When it comes to helping others drive more safely I usually sit in the passenger seat and help the driver in anything that they need like looking at the GPS so that they don’t have to or look for something in the back. In general, when it’s people that I do not know I like to raise awareness in April when it’s Distracted Driving Awareness month by talking about it online, as well as talking about it to my class and school as they are also just starting to drive.
