Driver Education

DRIVER EDUCATION

When I was seventeen years old, I lost my best friend due to the hands of a reckless driver. One moment. One second. One bad driver changed the rest of my life. He was riding his bicycle home one night when a driver hit him. Hospitalized for three days, he unfortunately didn’t make it out. The driver couldn’t be located, and hasn’t faced the consequences due to his reckless actions. Losing someone so close to me at the hands of an irresponsible driver taught me the importance of driver education and the importance of driving safely in today’s world. For me, driver education is something that I believe everyone should learn before getting into the front seat of a car. If you are driving a car, you are not only responsible for your life but for those around you as well. By promoting driver education, we might be able to reduce the number of deaths as a result of driving as there will be more drivers educated on the road. For example, what you may think is common sense when driving others may not think as much. If we are able to take the steps as a community to better educate ourselves, then we will begin to step into a safer driving generation for ourselves and our children. I have seen too many people in my life be hurt to the hands of a drunk driver and I want to be able to make sure that those numbers aren’t increasing but reducing. My mom, who is a physical therapist, used to tell me stories about patients she had to see that were so neurologically damaged because a drunk driver hit them on the road that I vowed to never do that. I know that if I am driving a car that I am not only going to be responsible for my well being but I am going to be responsible for the others on the road. One accident is all it takes to change someone’s life forever. One drink. One text. One irreversible mistake. That’s all it takes. By taking classes, watching videos, by just learning more about the safety of others and yourself while driving, we are ensuring that there will be more educated drivers out on the road. I want to help promote safe driving and I will be more than willing to help with classes, seminars and more to ensure that we have a safer driving world. By going the extra mile to help educate ourselves and our friends, we will be ensuring a better generation of drivers, one that is not only educated but one that cares for the well being of the community. My best friend died to the hands of a reckless driver. I don’t want any more people to go through the pain that I did at such a young age. To do this, we must work together as a community to teach the importance of safe driving. Together we can create a world of driving where we would feel safe that our kids are on the road. Together we can start a new generation of educated drivers.
