Safety While Driving
Over the years, I have seen drivers on their phones or not even paying attention. Now that I have started driving, I seem to notice more just how dangerous the road truly is. I noticed people not using their blinkers and just cutting people off, being on their phones, and overall being reckless drivers. Sadly, most teen drivers, seem to get easily distracted by their phones while driving and end up in a fatal accident. Something that could have easily been avoided by just being safe and paying attention to the road. Driver education is an easy way to prevent these tragedies as well. When taking driver education, it seems to open your eyes and helps you be safer on the road. Even when you are a safe driver, there will always be those dangerous drivers who do not seem to care about those around them and this even causes deaths. Maybe if every one took driver’s education and were safer drivers, those family members who died in fatal car collisions, would still be alive and someone’s brother, sister, uncle, father, or mother would still be a part of their life. If you are a driver, you can save somebody else’s life by just being safer on the road. Remembering that you are not the only one on the road would also be a way to prevent someone’s death. It would also be extremely helpful if you just put your phone down and payed attention. Is your phone more important than your life or somebody else’s life? Make sure to not be a reckless driver and drive the speed limit it is there for a particularly important reason. My mom used to have a habit of driving with her cellphone most of the time and whenever I was with her and she did that I would be so nervous and scared, I knew that this could potentially cause an accident. I then asked her if her phone was more important than her life and mine. Ever since that conversation, I have not seen her driving and on her phone, which makes me glad to know that something as simple as that can prevent a sad tragedy. I recently received my driver’s license, which is a great privilege to have, just because now I have my driver’s license does not mean that I can do whatever I want on the road now. Matter of fact, it means that I must be safer and more aware of those around me. Whenever I drive, I think that the drivers around me have families and that by me being an unsafe and reckless driver I can be the reason as to why they cannot go back home to their families. I would not be able to live with that guilt knowing that I caused a tragedy by doing something as simple as being on my phone and not paying attention. Safety on the road, truly starts with each one of us. I will be a better and safer driver by obeying the laws of the road, wearing my seatbelt, putting my phone on do not disturb as soon as I get in the car, not driving recklessly, and actually caring for not just my safety on the road, but as well as others’ safety and I hope that all drivers’ do the same.
