Tips for the Road Ahead

Sitting in my drivers ed class, pens tapping, pages turning, looking out the window, I see a car accident take place. Two cars, red and black, colliding right in the middle of the intersection. People running out of their cars and houses to see what’s going on, it was two young adults who werent following the rules of the road. I knew this because as I had recently learned it in my Drivers Education class. One should always put on their turn signals, look both ways of the street, and most of all pay attention to other cars around them before pressing on the gas and turning on an intersection. From inspecting the window and the drivers before the accident happened, I knew those drivers were not following these rules.

Later on the news, we find out that these drivers were around my age, and they didn’t even have drivers licenses, nor did they ever attend a drivers Ed class. This told me a lot about how much driver education really does with preventing deaths when driving. Here I thought these things were simple rules to follow even without a class, but this incident really opened my eyes to how important one’s education matters when it comes to doing anything dangerous such as driving.

To prevent an incident like this from happening, here are some very important tips to follow when driving. Firstly I would like to bring up how important it is to be alert and awake at all times when behind the wheel. One slight feeling of drowsiness or lack of paying attention and this is your life, and even another person’s life that will be put in danger.

Secondly, It is extremely important for everyone to pay attention to the world around them. This means keep your eyes on the wheel, on the road, and on your vehicle mirrors continuously while driving. Paying attention to drivers around you as well as the road ahead is the true key to becoming a safe driver. This is because one will be more attentive in where they are driving, and you can even avoid a car accident.

Lastly, don’t drive without a license or any form of drivers education. Becoming educated about the road signs and rules ahead of you can prevent serious damage and danger to those around you driving and especially pedestrians around you. There are many rules of the road that may not seem obvious without the correct education, such as road lines and signs. Because of this, the importance of drivers education classes are crucial to living a safer life on the road ahead.

These simple steps and tips for the road ahead may not seem like much, but following them can save a life, and even decrease the number of deaths related to driving by a lot. This means choosing to be more alert and awake while on your way to the supermarket can save lives and create a less dangerous atmosphere for all.
