Precautions for Safe Driving

During high school students take a course that is crucial to safety on the roads. Driver education can reduce the number of accidents and deaths related to driving. Students learn about the rules of the road and the laws to abide by. These rules and laws will ensure better safety on the roads. Without driver education new drivers won’t know how to keep themselves and others safe. Safe driving requires everyone on the roads to be responsible and educated. No matter how safe you are, it doesn’t mean all accidents will be gone. The more people who are educated means the less deaths related to driving will occur. Many steps can be taken in order to help this happen. I think it should be required for people to take road tests as they get older to make sure it is still safe for them to be on the roads. As people get older, memory, sight, and reflexes start to worsen each year. All of which are important while driving safely on the roads. If road tests were given multiple times at different ages, I believe the numbers of deaths and accidents will decrease. This is because those in charge can catch if someone isn’t fit to be driving. Some people don’t realize these problems when driving and can cause accidents themselves. Another main cause of deaths due to driving is drunk driving. Even though drunk driving is illegal many people still do it and it is why a lot of driving related deaths occur. I think there can be precautions made to try and prevent those under the influence from getting on the roads. An example of a precaution could be making it mandatory for those leaving bars or restaurants to get an uber or other driver service. Employees can monitor those leaving and always have car services available for their customers. Another precaution is making people more aware of the consequences of not only drunk driving but irresponsible driving as well. There are many different aspects to driving that people need to be aware of and with more resources available that can be achieved. Personally I have never been in a car accident but I have had close relatives and friends who have been. These accidents were not their faults, but it was because of the irresponsible driving of others on the road. The steps that I can take to be a better and safer driver is by gaining more and more knowledge on the topic. I am a new driver and I know that I don’t have the experience of those who have been driving for a long time. I still have much to learn and others should be aware of this as well. Driver education will always be the most crucial thing when it comes to safe driving and I think a lot of people take it for granted. By providing more resources more people can be aware of how to drive safely and responsibly on the roads.
