Why Driver’s Education is Important

Driver education is always important, but more so in our current world than ever. We have so many different forms of technology nowadays, it’s easy to get distracted when behind the wheel. You hear your phone ding and your initial instinct is to pick it up to see who texted you. That split second of you taking your eyes off the road could be fatal. To reduce the number of driving-related deaths, this is where we should start. It’s one of the simplest things we can do to avoid accidents. Putting your phone on silent or do not disturb mode will allow for minimum cell phone related distractions. Also, not messing with music/the radio while driving is a good thing to keep in mind while driving. Focusing on turning your favorite song on rather than your surroundings while on the road is a bad idea. Again, the second you look away from the road to adjust the music to your liking can cause a crash. Wearing a seat belt is always the first step once you get in the car, so making sure you and your passengers’ seat belts are on is important as well. Being an educated driver is important in reducing the number of driving related deaths because having that knowledge in the back of your mind will allow you to drive smart and safe. Knowing the dos and do nots of driving is the first step to having a safe driving experience. Some steps you and I can both take are to wear a seat belt, put your phone away, and focus only on the road.
