World of Driving
Imagine a world where your worries were nonexistent. A figment of your imagination even. Where your doors could remain unlocked. You were loved unconditionally by your neighbors. And your safety was always guaranteed. Oh what a wonderful world it would be. Unfortunately, this world is… our wildest dreams. Luckily, my Nana Ola Mae always told me to chase the wildest of dreams, with the work in my muscles and hope in my heart.
The first way we could all achieve this dream is through driver’s education. Courses such as defensive driving, the fundamentals of driving, and (like in my home state of Georgia) Joshua’s Law. The education provided within these courses will equip drivers with the tools necessary to keep themselves and others safe. The safer we are on the roads, the less likely we are to experience vehicular accidents which in turn reduces death rates.
In my dream world, my family and I are far away from any harm. In the real world, we faced it head on in a rough T-bone collision. A large truck made a mistake that many of us forget to do before we put a car into motion. He didn’t check his tires pressures before a long road trip. His front tire blew and he lost control of the car. Unfortunately, my mother and I were hit and sustained a few injuries. I would never wish the traumatic incident on my worst enemy. The look of fear and tears from my mother and I’s eyes will follow me for a lifetime. From that experience alone, I am determined to take several driving courses to better secure the safety of my family and others. I want to work towards the dream driving world that we all deserve. Headlight to starlight, highway to milky way.
