In a Matter of a Second

In A Matter OF a second

In a matter of a second, life can flash before our eyes. In any motor vehicle, it is up to the hands behind the steering wheel to put down everything and let go of all distractions before switching into gear. Most driving citizens don’t wake up and start their day thinking, “I might get in a car accident today,” In which they shouldn’t. However, what every driving citizen should wake up everyday thinking is, “I can prevent a car accident today just by doing my part.” What is a driving citizen doing when doing their part you may ask? Being aware, activated, and established while behind a steering wheel, in my opinion, is a driver doing her, his, or their part.

Distractions can be more deadly than a person regularly driving. Rather it’s your typical jamer trying to find a song, a pretty girl applying eye shadow or lipstick, a newly licensed teenage boy doing his best to keep his eyes on the road and not heavy foot the gas pedal; deep in traffic but he gets a call from a pretty girl he’s feeling. In a matter of a second, that jamer could have looked through a playlist for too long while simultaneously looking ahead from the device they were holding every 3 seconds but just happened to miss the second the traffic light turned yellow from a block away. By the next 2 seconds tick tocked and the jamer played a song, when they looked up the traffic light was red and they were going 40 in a 30 and did not slow down enough in time to completely stop and so forth. In a matter of a second, that girl applying her lipstick after she got done with the eye shadow real smooth through heavy traffic on the e-way, happened to not catch the “slip-uper”who bluntly switched lanes and got ahead of her to escape their slow lane because she dropped her lipstick in between the seats. She found her lipstick and saw that the frontend of her car was crushed into another’s backend. In a matter of a second, the innocent kid that was driving to his best ability picked up that call from the girl he was feeling. He was so in depth into the conversation, he didn’t hear the ambulance coming from the right side of an intersection while he was driving through a green light; he kept going and was enjoying the conversation and the ambulance didnt stop. In a matter of a second a distraction can end it all, or cost you a lot of money. Do your part if you’re out there driving my people, and do what you have to do before or after you start up your working engine and pull off onto the streets or pavement of the world. With every accident prevented, someone is earning the seconds of life that they deserve, because vehicles should not determine life or death.
