Drivers Education

Drivers Education

Around 1.3 million people die each year from driving around 1,300 each day. Drivers education is extremely important when it comes to preventing deaths as a result of driving. Education is one of the most important tools one has; it allows for people to improve in life and move up in society. In drivers education students learn to properly handle the roads in complex situations. When these students have the correct tools to navigate the roads and traffic situations the chances of fetal crashes goes down according to the University of Nebraska “young drivers who have not completed driver’s education are 75 percent more likely to get a traffic ticket, 24 percent more likely to be involved in a fatal or injury accident and 16 percent more likely to have an accident, the study showed.”

There are many steps one can take to prevent car crashes that end in death like for instance keep a safe distance from cars. Another step drivers can take to prevent crashes are by knowing your cars limits how well are your brakes? Are your tires in good shape? It is also important to take drivers education so drivers know the rules of the road and the appropriate way to navigate the road. A very important step in the prevention of fatal car crashes is regular maintenance on your car like oil changes and regular check ups on fluids and lights. The leading cause of crashes is distracted driving. By simply paying more attention to our surroundings and staying off our phones the amount of crashes significantly.

The worst crash i’ve experienced is getting rear ended on the freeway that wasn’t bad at all compared to some of the crashes that happen everyday. Although I have been in the car while family members and friends have been driving irresponsibly and it was scary and nerve racking. While being in a car with people who don’t care enough to keep an eye on the road it makes you fear not only for your life but also for the lives of cars around you on the road. Some important steps I can take to be a better and safer driver are being a defensive driver, following state traffic laws, and knowing weather conditions. Another step I as a driver can take to be safe is always wearing my seatbelt. By wearing a seatbelt you protect not only yourself but everyone in the car and it reduces the risk of serious injuries and fatalities.

In the end classes like driver’s education are crucial to educate drivers about the rules of the road. Also so people know how to be defensive drivers to keep an eye out for any possible issues and to be prepared for anything. It is important that drivers know the conditions there driving in to keep a safe distinct from other cars, that drivers leave on time to get to their destination safely, and drivers should know their own cars because it may affect brake time and how fast you can merge into traffic.
