Driver Education Essay

Being a good driver consists of following the laws. Laws are made to keep everyone safe and under control. The road has to be one of the most dangerous places, so following the rules are very important. There are important steps to getting your license which should be taken seriously at all times.

Before getting a drivers license you have to go through drivers ed and drivers training, pass your permit test, then pass your driving test and get your license. When going to drivers ed you learn all of the rules and regulations of the road. This schooling helps you get your permit while drivers training is the physical part which helps you get your license. It’s important for everyone to know the rules of the road so they won’t put themselves or others in danger.

One of the main causes of car accidents is distracted driving. I was recently in an incident with my brother because he was on his phone. He not only could have hurt us but also hurt the family in the car in front of us because of his irresponsible decision. For people like my brother, or just people with licenses in general, they should be required to attend drivers ed yearly to remind them the importance of the rules. The rules should be followed at all times in order to keep everyone on the road safe.

Since I’m a new driver I like to use peoples bad decisions to remind me to not be like them. Its sort of like having a role model but instead of doing the same you do the opposite, only when what they’re doing is wrong. Being safe can reduce the number of accidents on the road which will cause less traffic and make it easier for people to get to their destinations.

Speeding is also a main cause of car accidents. There are a lot of drivers that have road rage. With that being said new drivers or teenagers becoming drivers, should learn how to deal with drivers that are raging or being dangerous. Since a lot of accidents happen on the freeway, it should be a requirement for teenagers to learn how to drive on the freeway. From my own experience, driving on the freeway is intimidating. Not a lot of teenagers have people to help them learn the right and wrong things that have to be done in order to be safe.

I know a lot of people my age that don’t take safe driving seriously. I believe that making drivers ed a requirement in high school will educate the students more on the importance of safety. I also believe that adults should be required to go through the same process teenagers do. Although teenagers are more likely to get into an accident, adults also tend to as well.

Keeping our roads a safe place requires us to make the safest decisions. We need to be considerate of others on the road instead of worrying on where we need to be, what time we need to be there or worry about who’s calling or texting us. Keeping ourselves and each other safe should be our main priority.
