Safe Driving Techniquers

Drivers Education is a key way to start developing a new and upcoming driver. In drivers education you are taught the extreme basics such as accelerating, making turns, and keeping the car in your lane. As drivers work their way through the class they learn how to park in various situations, pass someone, and drive on the highway. These skills that are taught all play a role to prevent deaths on the road because drivers are being taught what to do to keep themselves and their passengers safe. While driving, there are steps you can take to help prevent deaths on the highway such as checking your mirrors repeatedly, driving at the speed limit to not slow traffic down, and checking other surroundings and drivers. One false move could send you into the ditch, so paying attention is the biggest thing, so put the phone down and turn the radio down and focus on what you are doing. 

The phone is the biggest distraction anymore with texting, making a phone call, or changing your playlist while driving. Any action with your phone takes your eyes off the road and can you, the drivers around you, and your passengers in danger. A precaution when driving that could be taken is putting your phone on silent so you can not hear the distracting text message. Some phones come with a car setting while driving so your phone will automatically respond, “I am driving at the moment. I will respond when I get the chance to.” This can keep your eyes on and not on your phone. There is also the same response for phone calls to help keep you safe on the road. Phone companies are starting to take precautions we do not even know about that keep us safe on the road.

Riding with an irresponsible driver is one of the scariest things I have ever done because I did not know if they were going to swerve, speed up or mash the brakes. When I realized what was happening, I got out of the car at a stop and went to my own car just to keep safe from irresponsible drivers. The irresponsible driver may think they are having fun but do not realize how traumatizing it is to the passengers, and the other people on the road. Driving irresponsibly can also be driving distracted since they almost go hand in hand with focusing purley on themselves and their driving moves, not the other people on the road putting themselves and others at a higher risk of injury or even death. 

There are many steps I can take to help myself become a safer driver on the roads. The first step I can take is putting my phone away in a spot where I can not easily reach it. This would help me to pay attention to the road and not my phone. Secondly, I will start turning the radio down. Turning the radio down will put more focus on the road, and not on the music. Taking these steps will help me keep myself, passengers, and other drivers safe on the road.
