Becoming a Good Driver

Driving can be very intimidating. If a new driver does not know how to keep themselves safe and focused, they will have trouble finding confidence in their driving. It is very important that all new drivers understand the true weight behind driving, and that getting behind that wheel could cost lives in the end if people are not properly equipped with the right knowledge and training.

The role that driver education plays is very large when it comes to reducing the deaths of driver related incidents. New drivers need people in their lives that can help them grow in their driving skill and experience. Whether this be a parent/guardian or a driver’s ed program, the teaching that experienced drivers can provide is crucial in helping new drivers develop. Without it, these drivers will be lost and cause wrecks, which raises insurance rates and can cause damage to vehicles and people.

One step that can be taken to reduce the number of driver related deaths is to better the education of new drivers. The state or city should make it a priority to invest in a beneficial program. If this is made a priority, the students will find more success and be safer on the roads. I think that it is also important to inform students about the potential consequences that they could face by not driving safely on the road. Wrecks can cost people time, money, confidence, and most of all, they can cost human lives. Although it may be scary for students to think about, they must be informed that driving is no joke, and that people’s lives are at stake. This strict warning will help them truly understand the importance of driver safety and make them more inclined to make safe choices while on the road.

Another step that can be taken to help is to make sure that new drivers are fully ready to drive on their own before letting them loose. Making sure that the instructors watch carefully for safe driving techniques from each and every person that takes the driver’s test is also very important. This means not only should the student be deeply evaluated, but also the instructor and the driver’s test judge. Each instructor should go through an intense training in order to have the necessary knowledge to teach each student. If they do not know what to specifically teach to the student, the student will fail and possibly not know the right safety precautions. Also, the judge of driver’s tests needs to be thoroughly examined, as their decision of whether or not to pass a student is huge, as it means the student can drive on their own. If the judge does not correctly judge a student, then that student is let loose on the road without the proper knowledge of the road and how to keep themselves and others safe.

I personally have never been in a car accident, but I have heard of my friends experiencing them. These accidents are horrible because not only do they cause damage to one or multiple vehicles, but also an increased insurance rate and potential injuries. These accidents can be easily avoided, which is why they are so horrible.

In order to better myself as a driver, I can make sure I am staying focused and staying safe on the road, despite possible distractions that could take away my attention. I can help others be better drivers by giving them tips from my experience, along with not being a distraction while I am in the car with them.

In conclusion, it is important for both students and instructors to have the proper training and knowledge to stay safe or teach others about staying safe. If safety precautions are stressed and taken seriously, the road will be a much safer place for everyone.
