Driver’s Education Essay

The importance of driver education in reducing the number of deaths involving driving would be to help, instruct, and inform young and new drivers. This would provide them with the opportunity to develop better driving habits to be utilized while driving. It would also reinforce the educational aspect by exposing beginner drivers to a diverse amount of knowledge on how to respond to the many different situations that might occur while driving.

This valuable course would enable us, as motorists, to understand our rights and the laws of the road. Through this educational program, everyone will remain on the same page in regards to what it takes to be a more responsible driver. Along with obtaining the knowledge and skills from participating in a driver’s educational course, the following are more steps that could be taken: providing more diverse driving educational programs, producing more advances with vehicle warning systems, and finally helping to enforce public education with targeted advertisements.

Incorporating different and diverse driving educational programs such as defensive driving could assist young and new drivers with recognizing and dealing with hazardous situations. This course would allow the driver to learn to anticipate different kinds of situations. Defensive driving covers many different kinds of things that drivers may experience, like changes in road conditions, driving distracted, and maintaining alertness of your surroundings. Through the added skills of a defensive driving course, drivers will be more equipped and prepared to make safer decisions.

Another step to take would be to utilize some of the advanced technological warning systems within the automotive industries. These systems could help monitor possible hazardous changes with the vehicle, on the road, and with any issues involving other motorists. By making these systems more available motorists will be able to have access to this life-saving technology to receive the vital feedback needed to make the necessary adjustments.

Yet another step to take would be to involve and educate the general public. In educating the general public about the dangers of driving irresponsibly, the advertisement and commercial industries could implement certain tactics to ensure that people are aware of the possible dangers of some of their bad driving habits. Through the use of different social media platforms, along with commercials, this will bring more attention to the vast amount of issues involving unsafe driving.

No, I have not personally been involved in a car accident but I do know someone who has. This individual was able to use some defensive driving skills to avoid a head-on collision with a drunk driver. Although defensive skills were used, they, unfortunately, were rear-ended by a fellow motorist on the road that chose to use offensive driving instead. I believe if the driver had been educated in defensive driving my friend wouldn’t have ended up in the accident. The following are a few steps I would take to become a safer driver: implement skills from my driver’s education class, learn some defensive driving skills, avoid driving distracted, and fatigued.
