A Heavy Burden

Driving safety as we all know is something very important and not to be treaded on lightly. However, as we all have a similar knowledge of the rules of the road then why are there still those who do not follow these rules and do not acknowledge them or just simply put: we know them but we think we have the situation under control. Going further into this topic, if we know these rules & feel we have the power to control our vehicles then why are there so many deaths each year as a result of the lack of safety that we ourselves present. I think this is more of a personal matter that all starts in our minds & each one of us must do our own part in doing best in acknowledging that all of us need to consistently review the rules of the road before we must bear a heavy burden.

Reviewing our education is key to be the most optimal that we can be when driving a vehicle that can end someone’s life. I believe that those who are able to drive actively know & continue to remember the importance of driver education since most common mistakes are from someone who did not have the proper knowledge of what they were doing whether it be from intoxication to just being befuddled. If they reapplied the testing every time you renewed your license, then that could help in reducing the number of deaths. Think about the first time that you were driving, you were so nervous & were much more aware of surroundings compared to when you are a seasoned driver having some experience. I believe that drivers should try to embellish that way of thinking again so we can reinforce the fact that we as drivers have a weapon that can harm and kill anyone inside & out this vehicle.

The important steps a driver can take is not only reviewing the rules of driving to refresh on anything that you may have missed, but to also to take the act of driving seriously as once stated in this essay before, we have a weapon whenever we turn that key into the ignition. Taking that role seriously & respecting the guide that comes along with that is one of the best things that we could do as drivers. Another step you could take, and my father tells me this all the time whenever we are driving with him is that not only are we responsible for our vehicle by the other person’s vehicle as well. This is just another precautionary measure as even though you be in the right state of mind, the person in front of you or back of you may not be and that could potentially be trouble for the both of you & have the possibility of taking a life. Just keeping a eye on your driving as well as your neighbor’s driving could save your life and there’s.

Myself personally I have had the experience of witnessing my family driving irresponsibly & every time I am witness to it I just look around to see if there are any cars that might fall victim to my family’s driving skills. I am always internalizing the different outcomes that could when being a witness to their driving & how it is not only placing me at risk but everyone else on the road as well.

Whenever I reflect on my own driving, I usually use the tidbits that I have already previously said, I like to look around at other people’s driving along with my own to make sure I am not doing anything wrong that could lead to crash or even worse. I like to pray before I am even in the car to pray for the Lord to guide me, in whichever or whatever situation I maybe in. Another thing I am thinking about doing is routine maintence checks on my vehicle to make sure there are no surprises while on the road like a tire giving out or engine problems since I’m sure that is a factor when adding up all the fatalities based on different scenarios. I want to remind myself that I have an ability to make the burden of getting place to place easier, however that comes at a higher price of caring for not only mine but for the other drivers who may not even worry about me. Even though this may seem like a lot to take in, this is something that we should take into consideration since this burden of driving is better than the burden of knowing you took someone else’s life away.
