The Importance of Drivers Education

Driving or being a passenger is part of almost everyone’s life. The number of people who have passed away from an accident should be alarming to all. Driver’s education makes you aware of the signs, roads, and how to handle certain situations while driving. Taking a driver’s education course made me more aware of how my family and others around me drive. As people get older, they may forget about the different topics drivers education taught them. Drivers education is especially important for teenagers. They are younger and driving is a huge responsibility. The courses provide the knowledge that will protect the people behind the wheel, passengers, and drivers around them.

I have experienced being in a wreck t and thankfully it was nothing serious. We were turning into a parking lot when all of a sudden a truck hit the back of my mom’s car. The truck came out of nowhere. It is cliche, but I remember that moment feeling like it was moving in slow motion. My family members have been in a few accidents and they are thankfully nothing serious. This does not justify these accidents, because the majority of them could’ve been avoided. There are many times where others would speed pass to make a green light. Others may switch lanes because of the person in front of them or driving too slow. In these different situations, there is an easier way to avoid accidents. One driver’s careless mistake can create a domino effect that harms ten other drivers and their passengers. It takes a second for something to go wrong and that should be something everyone is aware of. People need to be aware of others around them and not be selfish while on the road. It is everyday habits that all drivers have that seem to play a huge role in accidents.

The steps I can take to being a safer driver is to also remind my family members of their mistakes. While driving with them, they always remind me to not make the mistakes they make. I will remind them to get out of their habits of making these mistakes. Different habits people make while driving may lead to significant events. I want my family to be safe on the road, so I will do my best to get them out of their habits. While I drive, I will also make sure to do whatever I need to do to keep myself and others around me safe.

People often forget that their mistakes can affect others. The number of car accidents and deaths should bring more awareness to drivers everywhere. These are not just numbers. They were human beings who lost their lives to an accident that could have been avoided. To reduce the number of accidents, all drivers need to be aware of all their surroundings. Everyone as drivers have to remember how much responsibility they hold while driving. They also need to not worry only about themselves but be aware of all of their surroundings.
