Safety Strives Save Lives

The people of any country don’t fully understand the threat of poor driving. Poor driving is much worse than people think. A young college student with the world in front of them can be tragically be taken away at the blink of an eye. Anything from trying to text while driving to collision with a semi-truck could and will be fatal. Many more actions can be taken by the people and the government to ensure more safety on the streets.

The importance of driver education can vastly improve the number of fatalities on the road. If the threats of driving irresponsibly were more communicated to the public, the numbers can improve greatly. People know it’s dangerous to drive irresponsibly but if the education system was to fully explain what could happen then it could help a lot. Not only by just showing examples of fatal car crashes, but by ensuring the fact that they could be in the textbook. People who end up in crashes might not always die but be in critical condition for the rest of their lives. Someone could have a life waiting for them only to be at the hospital living with a burden and pain for the rest of their life. If people were to inform others about all the dangerous associated, then they could turn irresponsible drivers to caution tellers.

If the punishment for irresponsible driving was more drastic then the numbers would be better. The punishment could be more DUI charges. If there was a curfew to the people with DUI charges, then people would avoid them. If the jail time for misdemeanours was to be increased from a year max to 2 or maybe 3 years, then it would be much more as a threat to these drivers. If alcohol was less distributed, then the amount of fatal car accidents would be greatly affected. If there was some law that took your licence away forever, then people would be way more careful.

Any person could help bring these numbers down. This could be done by simply correcting people you know about the mistakes they are making and the impact those mistakes can have. People can stop drinking out late by themselves. Not only is it bad for your health but, it could end up with you and several people dead. If there is a group of people out drinking, then someone sober could drive them home safely. At the end of the day, this person could be saving their life, their friends’ lives and the safety of other people.

I had a family member who was out late at night drinking. They were on their way home and they drove into a pole. That pole knocked out the lights and landed on their vehicle. They were then arrested, given a DUI, and had to pay for expenses. And they had to go the meetings that explained the dangers of irresponsible driving. It could have been much worse. They could have had the burden of killing some random person, but they only hurt themselves which isn’t that bad.

People should just know the consequences of irresponsible driving. It could leave you as a potato for the rest of your life, traumatized, or pronounced dead. Any measures taken by anybody could help the issue at hand. Every day, there are 29 people who die to alcohol-related car crashes. Every year, there are more than 44 billion dollars towards the cost of alcohol-related car incidents. This shows the size of the problem if a person every 50 minutes to an alcohol related accident. Just be considerate of each other.
