Drivers Education Essay

How to be the best driver in town

When it comes to driving around in a 2,000-pound object and with others around you doing so, you would want to be as safe and cautious as you can right? Well, what better way to prepare yourself for that time to come, especially if you are a beginner. Getting the best understanding of lessons when driving a car would be to take driver education. Taking this will teach teenagers who are starting to drive what to do and not to do behind the wheel. The importance of completing a driver’s education course helps reduce the number of deaths. By knowing how to safely operate a vehicle on busy interstates or during bad weather decreases the chances of getting into an accident and possibly killing someone else in the said accident. Not only would it stop the increase in deaths in car accidents, but taking drivers education allows you to become more comfortable and confident behind the wheel.

Being thankful for not being in any car accidents, I can not say that my family or my friends drive responsibly. When it comes to driving, I get that you want to listen to music, or have to make a call during that time. These both will involve you to be on your phone. My friends and my brothers both have a habit of trying to change the music on their phones while driving. Some might not think it is a big deal to just take a quick glance at your phone to skip some songs that you do not want to hear. But sometimes it does take a split second to look down from the road and cause an accident. I have to admit, I fall, victim, when it comes to doing these things, but I have bettered myself by having a friend or a family member in the passenger seat to control the music. This keeps me from trying to look at my phone altogether. You might not think that you will get into an accident, but you never know how other people drive too. Like my mom always says “You have to drive for yourself and the other people on the road.”

Practicing safe driving has so many benefits that I think that people need to try and consider. We now know why it is important to take a driver’s education class, but just knowing your car, it will save you from the trouble that could possibly come when you are by yourself. The weather can play a major role in how you drive in your car. Depending on if it is snowing, raining, sleeting, etc. you have to take extra precaution to your surroundings and drive an appropriate speed. Another step to be a better driver is to actually use your turn signals. I know the majority of people at my school who do not use their turn signals and it is quite aggravating. How are people supposed to know where you are headed, next thing you know you cause an accident. This also goes along with taking responsibility for others by using the appropriate speed limit or never drive sleepy. By taking these steps will allow you to become a better driver. Being a safe driver not only helps you but it also helps your community.
