Responsibilities of Drivers Ed and Our Family

Drivers’ education needs to be more active and feel more like a privilege than a class. Kids Like myself go into Drivers’ ed and sit at a desk and wait for the class to be over so we could go to lunch or just go on our phones. Drivers ed needs to be strict and feel like you are being tested every day instead of being graded based on what you decide to learn. What we need to do to reduce the number of deaths is more instruction hours and to be taken more seriously while driving and observing. While the instructor is teaching and observing the driver while they are driving they cannot give 100% attention to the passenger in the back when they are supposed to be observing they are just on their phone or taking a power nap until it is their turn to drive. My little brother just got his license this last month and it has been scary. We like to go bowling by ourselves without our parents and I tend to let him drive so that he can get better with more experience. My brother lacks many qualities such as his attention to the other drivers on the road and his ability to drive by himself. When my brother is driving he cannot think of what the cars around him are going to do and that makes him uncertain to make turns and forces him to move slower than the speed limit on the highway. When he is driving with me or my parents he asks many questions that he should already know the answers to whether if it is directions to a restaurant or a bowling alley he is lost without someone’s help and to have your license you should have mastered these skills by now which takes more time which leads us into the next section to what we can do about these problems with new drivers on the road. In Drivers Ed, we need to have multiple instructors in the car at once to have everyone engaged and focused on the task at hand that could potentially save their lives or someone else lives in the future. The biggest way that we can lower deaths caused by car crashes is by having multiple instructors in the car if there are multiple students in the car at once. Students need instructors’ full focus and attention in the car while the other student is driving in the car. The last and a very major important way to save lives from car crashes are more in-depth and more unrealistic situations in the final test before you get your driver’s licenses to get the experience that is unlikely but could potentially save your life one day along with many of others lives. With all of this information drivers on the road are going to be learning it has a ripple effect that can affect other drivers who already have their licenses and teach them how to be exponentially safer on the road for themselves and others on the road.
