In the driver’s seat

Among us teenagers about to be adults, were thrilled to get our driver’s license. Around the age of 16 we could get our permit, after 6 months we could get our provisional driver’s license. Once teenagers have their car there ready to be independent, but we don’t realize the great danger it can be when your distracted. Until one of us is in the emergency room because of a car crash we realize huge mistake we have made. Later we realize the great danger a car can be so many accidents that can happen but so many precautious we can take.

Damages that a car accident can give us are, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, paralysis, burns, fractured bones, etc. These injuries are very critical. It can take years or months to recover some people don’t even recover. About 1.35 million people die in a year in car accidents, and 20-50 million get injured. That’s about 3,700 people die every day. This all refers to people’s behavior. For example, were you under the Influence, were you on your phone, were you not paying attention, were you above speed limit, or many other things can happen? That’s why everyone’s job is to stay focus on driving. Just focus on the road.

My experience was that I was leaving my aunt’s house and she drove us. We were on our way home until my aunt turned to our right and a car pushed our right side of the car which keep in mind I was in the front right side of the car. Thank god nothing happened to me or no one in the car but it could of injured someone. That’s why we need to take precautions. Precautions you should take don’t be distracted on your phone, speaking to someone in the car, go at the speed limit, don’t be multitasking, wear seat belt, and never have more passengers’ than what a car can hold. Always check if your wheels are full air and bring backup. This as well goes for gas always have it full or bring back up. Another thing always bring your important car papers or many other important documents.

There’re so many accidents that can happen in a blink of a eye that you wouldn’t expect to happen to you or a friend. That’s why you should think twice of what precautions you can take and be aware what can happen to you if you don’t pay attention. Always be aware of your surroundings. Any little thing can affect you and your future. In addition, just remember to wear seat belt. Also get more educated on this topic before getting behind the wheel.
