27.11.20 The Importance of Safe Driving

Most schools offer a safety driving course for their students. This helps because the children who take the course are on their way to becoming individual, responsible adults. The only problem is that in our generation, kids think that it is okay to text, call, eat, drink, etc. and drive. Which is a huge problem. This course allows students to see the problems with doing these things while driving and shows them what happens when it is done. It is also said that children who take the driver education course are the safer ones than those who do not take the course.

Laws are already in place to try to prevent car accidents and deaths, but I think that maybe if they were a little stricter then something may change. Kids need to know that their phone isn’t the only thing in life. In fact, electronic devices ruin your life a lot, whether you know it or not. I think there can be a law that says whenever you get into a car, your phone should be turned off and put away so that the driver cannot reach the phone.

I have experienced someone being in a car accident. It was scary, and the car was totaled. They ended up coming out of it, but it shouldn’t have happened in the first place. It’s small, minor things that can take someone within the blink of an eye. Don’t drive whenever you are angry or upset, it increases the percentage of wrecking by about 10%. Some people do without thinking of the consequences. When a phone dings and you look at it while you are driving, do you know what can happen within five seconds? You can lose your life, or take others, or even both.

While I continue driving as a teenager and any time after, I will always be the safest I can be. I will not touch my phone unless my car is pulled over and in park. I will not eat nor drink anything in my car. I will either wait until I get home or when I am at a complete stop for a long amount of time. I will keep the radio on one station until I get to a point where I can change it.

All these things should be done across the entire world. Whether you like it or not. You may think that the picture you took in your car is cool and you want to show it to all of your friends but that can wait. What is important, is coming back to your friends and family safe and unharmed.

Yes, your friends and family may get mad at you for not texting back but, in the end, they would rather you not text them back then to not have you with them at all. Remember to always stay safe and follow the laws of the road, or, add some of your own.
