The Importance of Safe Driving

Knowing proper driving safety is important for everyone. If proper safeguards aren’t taken upon the road such as speed limit, full attention on the road, and not using illegal Substances you could not only be putting yourself in danger, but possibly others’ lives. Driver safety includes teaching individuals about proper ways to park, following speed limits, properly following traffic signs, and driving without distractions. One main priority when in the car is wearing your seatbelt. Wearing the seatbelt isn’t the only driving safety tip that should be learned however people should also know the proper way to wear it which is adjusting the lap belt to fit low and tight across your hips/pelvis, and not your stomach area. I also believe that keeping time and space in mind is important when driving. When Driving behind another vehicle, you should keep at least four seconds of following time and space. This allows for a safety cushion when reacting to a sudden situation. Furthermore, another important aspect of driving safely is the proper use of lights on the road. Nigh time is the main time span in which someone can have slight loss of vision of the road which is a very important aspect of driving. One of the main steps is that the wheel and the road should have 100% of your attention and consciousness, this includes not drinking intoxicated, not using your phone when driving, and not driving when you are restless. Personally, I have been in multiple wrecks as a younger child. Luckily there were no deaths involved, however there were many injuries, and car wrecks are very scary experiences that no one should have to experience. When driving you should know certain safety precautions, because in my case the wreck was not my fault however the other drivers on the road put others’ lives in danger. When in the car with someone you should ensure that they are being a safe driver and help them to remember that by driving recklessly or driving with distractions could be putting their lives and others in danger. Steps that I could take to ensure safe driving of others is first making sure that the person is not entering behind a wheel intoxicated or tired. Also, by reminding them that when first entering a car it is important to put your seatbelt on. Another, safeguard that should be practiced when driving is forgetting about your phone, whether you must turn it off or place it in the glove box while driving. Finally, a way that I could ensure safer driving amongst myself and others is ensuring that the driver keeps their distance amongst the car in front of them. Driving Safety is something that is not quite often taught but should be something that everyone knows. Driving safely on the road is important and is a main priority every time we are behind the wheel. Driving education is very critical for reducing the number of deaths in car crashes.
