The Road to Driving Safe
Since the invention of cars, there has always been a risk of people getting hurt in accidents. However, it is more common now than ever and it is due to many distractions while driving. Driving is an act that requires a lot of responsibility and should be the concern to everyone in order to keep the roads safe and the person driving as well. Safe driving is more prominent when people don’t use their phones while driving, don’t drive drunk, and follow the traffic guidelines.
One main reason that roads are not completely safe to drive in, is because of people who use their phones. It is a major distraction, and it does not matter if you only take a few seconds to answer a text or call, those few seconds could cause a major accident and change your life. Not only could you hurt yourself and those in the vehicle with you, but also any pedestrians that happen to be in the way. To avoid this kind of problem, one should either set their phone to leave an automatic voicemail when driving or have one of those devices for your ears that help you answer calls without actually grabbing your phone. Furthermore, it is always better to safe than sorry and take these precautions seriously.
Just as important as not texting while driving is not driving while intoxicated. Drunk driving can be a very dangerous act and can cause you to become dizzy and even lose consciousness. These things can make you swerve into the wrong lane and bump into other cars or objects that eventually can lead to your hospitalization. It is important that you think about the consequences of drinking and driving before you set your hands on the wheel. If you do happen to drink, make sure to limit yourself and have a designated driver to ensure that nothing bad happens. On a more serious note, drunk driving can also lead to you serving time in prison because driving intoxicated can put the life of others at risk. So next time you or someone you know wants to drive after a full night of drinking, ask yourselves if it will be worth it in the end.
A very important and essential part of driving safely, is to be aware of traffic guidelines. These guidelines are put into place in order to keep you and the rest of the citizens safe. An example of a broken guideline that can lead to unsafe driving is passing a red light. Doing this can result in crashing into other cars that are actually following the rules. In addition, another great example of a broken rule that can cause a major accident is excessive speeding, not to mention the fact that you can go to prison for breaking the law. Although sometimes passing a red light or speeding might seem like a good idea if you were in a rush, one should always stay on the safe side and just abide by the law. There will always be consequences to unsafe driving to keep you accountable for your actions.
In the end, driving should be a safe space and we should all do our part to keep the roads safe. It is very important that we take others into consideration and think about the outcomes of not driving safely. Moreover, taking these precautions to drive safely can potentially save your life and the life of others.
