Think Before You Drive

Not too long ago, my girlfriewnd told me that she was going to go hangout with her friend and her friend’s boyfriend, and I did not think much of it. However, two days later she was complaining about that night because of how irresponsibly he drove. She said that he was driving faster than she had ever imagined to drive on a normal road, and she said he was doing the same later that night, even after having a few too many drinks. I was thoroughly disappointed in her for even choosing to get into the car with him that night. She had never even met this guy before, and ended up getting into the backseat while he drove them home drunk at high speeds in the dark. Her friend was assuring her that he knew what he was doing and that he has done this plenty of times in the past. I am now disgusted with her friend and her friend’s choices in men and drivers. I have never seen this guy in person, and he could have taken my girlfriend’s life with one wrong turn of the wheel. This just shows how important driver safety is. I never thought my girlfriend would willingly put herself into that position. People need to realize how serious the danger of drinking and driving is. High Schoolers across the country get drunk and party and are new to driving, but have not experienced the dangers of drunk driving. They think it is no big deal and decide to drive themselves home, unti they can not control their driving and end up hitting another car and killing a family, or their friend in the passenger seat. I have seen the horrors of drunk driving and what it can do to a family. A lady at my church had a son that was captain of the football team, but not like a real jock-type guy, and he got into the passenger seat while his buddy drove drunk. He ended up dying and his friend went to jail. I despise the kids at my school who drink underaged at my school enough, and then to hear that some drunk guy was driving my girlfriend was too much. Drinking and driving needs to stop being portrayed in movies and TV shows as not dangerous. It would help to spread awareness and hopefully prevent future drunk driving accidents. Never get into the car of a drunk person that is driving. Order and Uber or call a friend or family member. Drunk driving is not a joke and needs to be shown as the danger that it is.
