The Key to Safe Driving
Safe driving is a part of everyday life that should be given the highest respect because of it’s possible dangers. Driver’s education can do nothing but help to warn new drivers of the possible dangers on the road. Along with driver’s education, there are other courses of action that the government and everyday people can take to improve the safety of driving. As a young driver, I have made mistakes on the road that have taught me how to help maintain my safety and the safety of others.
Driver’s education is crucial to the safety of every one that uses the roads. Not only drivers, but passengers and pedestrians as well. When on the road, the traffic is made up of two to five thousand pound metal vehicles. They are fueled by a combustible liquid and they can be moving at high speeds that can create deadly accidents. It is vital for the safety of everyone on the road, for young drivers to have instruction in the seat of a car. They must be taught on traffic laws, the dangers of driving while intoxicated, as well as vehicle maintenance.
In order to reduce fatalities due to car accidents, many precautions must be taken. Regularly checking the state of a vehicle, for example, could save a life. If a tail light stops working, and a driver changes lanes without other drivers’ notice, they could cause a deadly accident. You can also prevent fatalities by being an aware driver. That means a driver who doesn’t text and drive. Don’t eat or drink and drive, simple distractions can cause an accident.
I have been a passenger in several car accidents. Every time, the driver who is responsible has been distracted. Once I was in the vehicle when a young driver backed into the car I was in. We were stopped at a stop sign and the driver was distracted by his friend. The driver had thought that he needed the car to be at a different angle to make his turn and managed to hit our car because of his distraction.
To become more of a safe driver, there’s a number of steps I can take. I have already taken Driver’s Education, but there’s more that I can do. I can make sure not to text and drive. Texting can be more dangerous than drunk driving. I can be more careful on the road. I have a tendency to make turns very harshly and brake very quickly. That can damage the brakes which can make them less reliant in a situation that they need to be. I know that if I lead by example then my driving can affect the way other people drive. If I lead as an example of good driving then others will drive safely and live may be saved as a result.
