The importance of safe driving
Every kid dreams of finally being able to legally drive themselves. Not many people see driving as a privilege, however it is. Driving needs a great amount of attention and patience. We go through a couple steps to achieve our driving license, one of them being attending a class. Paying attention in class is the most necessary in order to insure that all rules are fully learned and practiced. Currently, we have had an increase in the number of death rates resulting from drivers who are either speeding or drunk driving. Paying attention to the little details are the crucial. One tiny detail can change another persons life. As a driver, it is your responsibility to understand the rules of the road and make sure they are followed by too. To reduce the number of deaths related to driving, we should all make repsobisbile decisions. For instance, if your on drugs or have consumed alcohol, don’t drive. Another is being patience with others. Feelings, such as rage can get to most people, so if your feeling either mad or sad, calm down and take a break before taking it out on someone else. Especially in my age group, people find it cool to show off and drive fast. I have experienced others driving fast around me. I let them know that I am uncomfortable because its important to try anything to help stop a situation from happening. I am incapable of changing peoples decisions, however we can help stop situations from happening. We can let a person know that they are going too fast, or we can let our friends cool down before driving or take a different form of transportation when drinking. As a driver, I try to expand my knowledge on driving as often as I can. I don’t let others influence the way I drive. I try my best to cool down before I drive or take a break on driving when its needed. My attention spam is always on high alert. After taking drivers ed, I find that whenever I am in a car, whether it be myself or with my parents, I notice that I am continuously looking at my surroundings. I check the mirrors most all the time and I make sure cars are not approaching when turning. In drivers ed, I received information about the road and different things that I never knew about. We watch informational videos about car crashes and the lasting impacts. It was heartbreaking to see so many innocent lives lost. After taking driving class and being exposed to the atmosphere of being a driver, I am using the skills my driver instructor taught me as a guide. I refresh my memory on the rules and make sure I follow them as well. You might not think your driving needs work, however if you take the time to look, you can always improve your driving. Patience and thought are crucial factor to being a great driver. Next time your driving, remember to think of others and how they can be affected before making a decision that will be regretted later.
