Don’t die to send a text
It was noon and on the road was a little girl playing around with a bouncy ball. She was only 10, and had a lot going for herself. She always minded her own business and really found enlightenment in seeing what the ball does. However, little did she know that was going to be the last time playing with the ball because soon after she was struck by a person texting and driving. Not only did she lose her life, but the parents lost their first child as well. Her life can no longer be replaced and now she is forever in heaven. No more dancing… No more TV shows… No more seeing her parents. The person texting and driving is taken in to be questioned and processed, leaving the driver with the guilt and thought of murdering a family’s child. However, the craziest part is that the system allows the person that took someone else’s life at a young age to live and get away with only a few years in prison. A few days later, the father of that family goes out for a drive to get some things off of his mind. Come to find out, he gets enjoyment out of speeding and driving recklessly. It was almost like an addiction the way adrenaline rushed through his body and gave him thrill from speeding down alleys. Since he no longer had a child present, he felt like he no longer had to set an example for his kids, so he decided to get back into trouble. His own mom always told him that if he kept that up that he would end up dead, but little did she know it was too late for him. As he was speeding down the narrow road, he crashed, leaving his car flipped over and crushing him in the process. After finding out the news about her child and her husband, the mother/wife become hopeless and is reported dead from suicide. Part of me wishes that I could help them, but another part tells me that sometimes the worst is unpreventable. It always seems like when one person dies, another one dies because of that one or many death(s). This is why driving deaths or driving accidents in general should be reduced because if more people keep dying early to driving accidents, then the more people that end up getting affected and end up changing the way they interact with society. This is why I feel like that not only should this message be pushed more, but should be put on the driving test as well. Personally this essay hasn’t also made me realize how bad driving is in general, but made me realize what steps I need to take for myself. I am always taking the extra steps of hiding my phone, being cautious, and staying sober are just 3 of the many steps I take to stay safe on the road. I hope you do the same!
