Don’t Be a Statistic
Two days after I got my license I was rear ended on interstate 95 heading south. It was late at night and the person behind me had tires with no treads on them. I immediately called my mother and sobbed because I didn’t know what to do and I was so scared. I believe if the driver was educated on the importance of tire treads when driving and I knew what to do when I get in an accident a lot could of went better that night. Luckily for both of us no one died, but later that night on that road a girl died because she flew out of the bed of the truck, of someone who was drunk driving. The biggest step we need to take to help lower the amount of deaths related to automotive accidents is showing the harsh truth of what happens when you decide to drink and drive, or decide to speed or race on the streets. It’s like drugs, until you get hurt you think your invincible. I always swore to never drive drunk and to never race or support anyone who would drink and drive or street race. But I wouldn’t try to shame them because shaming someone never fixes the issue; instead I would educate them on the dangers with statistics and show my true worry as a friend or loved one.
