Prepared for Anything

When I get my keys
and start my car, all I can think about is the safety of the people
in and around it; This is paramount. hurting someone because of my
ignorance is something I cannot have on my conscience. So I make sure
that every time, I practice safety driving to ensure anything bad
doesn’t happen. I can never be sure what other people will do, but
I know I practice safety. For one, I never take out my phone while
driving, which should be the most obvious. Two, I try to not be angry
on the road, of course it always slips out, but not enough for it to
be dangerous. Three, be prepared for anything.

Driving
is riddled with human error and you need to be ready for anything
that’s about to happen. When I drive, I am always cautious of the
cars all around me. Whether that’s the front, back, left or right,
I periodically check to make sure nothing is going wrong that can
affect me or anyone else. I also make sure that there are no
distractions inside of the car. Yes I listen to music, but for me,
that helps me focus and relax while i’m on the road. But things
like having my phone out is definitely something I won’t do. Unless
I am lost and need directions, my phone is in my pocket, free from
all distraction.

When
I started taking my drivers ed classes, I thought they were a waste
of time, and I don’t really like things that are mandated so I
wasn’t thrilled about it. That’s probably how most people feel
when they take them. But over time, building a friendly relationship
with my instructor, and taking her adherences to heart, I realized
that they were for the better rather than worse. They showed me the
good, and bad sides of driving and how to be on the right one. My
instructor meant what she was telling us about the dangers, and made
me see the importance of practicing driving safety. That is why with
over 2 years of driving experience, I haven’t put a dent in a car,
or got a dent put in my car because of my wherewithal, and the
instructors teaching style.

Driving
safely shouldn’t be seen as a job, rather a duty to take on. It is
every drivers duty to make sure that the people inside, and around
their car are safe at all times, trying to the best of their ability
to stay away from distractions. This also means not having road rage
because this can impact your daily driving, and can lead to a hostile
situation if ever provoked. Finally, it is our duty to be prepared
for anything. We need to be safe to save lives.
