“Behind the Wheel”
My
name is Angel Clark. I am a high school senior at West Creek High
School in Clarksville, TN hoping to attend Kentucky State in the fall
semester of 2020. The importance of drivers ed in reducing the
number of deaths is of great value. It is very important to have a
good amount of knowledge because it can prepare you for a variety of
situations and encourage one to practice safe driving. Being aware of
steps on safe driving can prevent incidents from happening. It is
smart to obtain any information you learn from dependable sources
because a loved one or friend may be unaware of certain material. You
may also influence others to drive safe with the knowledge you
provide.
When
a person is in the process of learning the importance of driver
education they must learn to be responsible, confident, careful, and
thorough with the actions they take behind the wheel. Driving with
the rest of the world requires a clear understanding of the vehicle
and everything around us. There are many ways to prepare for
understanding and controlling a vehicle. A few steps that can be
taken to reduce the number of deaths are creating a habit of wearing
a seatbelt, being aware of others driving around you, and staying
patient with a positive attitude.
When
it comes to driving safe it is best to form good habits before you
are driving with the rest of the world. That is why my first step to
reduce the number of deaths is wearing your seatbelt. Although
wearing your seatbelt is enforced in most states it is wise to
practice even when you feel there is no danger. For example, there
could be a driver speeding towards you in the opposite direction,
once you stop on brakes your seatbelt will keep you safely put in
your seat. Not wearing a seatbelt increases your risk of death and
injury. A person choosing not to wear their seatbelt are 30 times
more likely to be ejected from their vehicle if there was a crash.
The
second step I feel is very important is being aware of the drivers
around you. You have to stay mindful of others whether you are doing
a turn, lane-switch, parking, or anything else.
The
third step to reduce unfortunate accidents is to stay patient with a
positive attitude. Some drivers may have developed anger issues or
road rage when it comes to driving because they are in a rush. I was
in a car accident when a car hit my mom’s vehicle rear end all
because they were in a rush. It was not a fun experience that is why
being patient is important to me today. Letting your emotions get the
best of you while driving is the worst thing anyone can do to
themselves. In conclusion, there may be many distractions and
complications, but it is everyone’s responsibility to ensure being
safe for you and others around you.
