Drivers ed

Learning to drive for the first time can be very scary especially for a young teenager, and even parents get nervous when their children are learning to drive. Young teenagers are always put into the category of being reckless, and not cautious while driving. “In 2017, 2,364 teens in the United States aged 16-19 were killed, and about 300,000 were treated in emergency departments for injuries suffered in motor vehicle crashes. That means six teens aged 16-19 died every day due to motor vehicle crashes, and hundreds more were injured” (CDC).

The information that I learned from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention is the reason I believe that every teen should take a driving course at least once. “A course of study, as for high-school students, that teaches the techniques of driving a vehicle, along with basic vehicle maintenance, safety precautions, and traffic regulations and laws” (Dictionary). Driving courses are very informative. People get on the rode and just begin driving without knowing all of the rules of the rode, which are important. I took a driving course and learned so much that I did not know.

Car accidents can be scary, and very dangerous. I was in my first car accident three months after receiving my first car, which was a blue volkswagen. I was 16 years old, and luckily I survived. I was also relieved that no one else was involved. I was driving on the highway early in the morning on my way to work. I drove into the highway wall head on, and I honestly can not explain how. I literally do not know, but I was definitely traumatized after my accident. I did not drive for months. Then I received my second car and I have not had any accidents at all and I am going on my three year anniversary with my second car. My car accident made me become way more cautious and careful, while I’m driving. Learning driving safety is so important, and I can not stress this enough. You do not want to put other lives on the road in danger, and you also have to pay attention to other drivers as well to keep yourself safe.
