The Effects of Safe Driving
The Effects of Safe Driving

Driving aggressively, under the influence, and with distractions are only some of the many ways accidents are caused on the roads. Fatalities are becoming more common as a result of these unsafe driving habits. Americans need to work together to combat this growing problem.
Being educated in driving practices is essential to ensure safety on the roads. Educated drivers tend to be more conscientious of what’s going on around them and have a more calm and clear mindset when they’re driving.
Drivers ed helps prevent accidents on the road because individuals are taught the rules of the road and it acknowledges the dangers of driving. Many people who aren’t educated remain ignorant of the responsibilities they have on the road and of the implications that come with that. Educated drivers are taught to be aware of their surroundings, to have quick critical thinking skills, and to not take driving lightly. Educated drivers are often more diligent on the road which results in less accidents on the road. It is so imperative for individuals to be instructed before they drive because the number of casualties on the road will decline.
I believe there are a few steps we can take to reduce the number of deaths related to driving. One of which is to introduce safe driving to adolescents at a younger age. With the information being taught earlier, there is more time for individuals to grasp and retain the safe driving techniques. In addition, enforcing tests about driver safety through our lifetimes would help develop safe driving habits. Many people become frighteningly casual when they drive for so long, so reminding them of these habits would aid safe driving. Lastly, I believe there should be a push for individuals to retake driving tests. It would monitor who is still fit to drive. These steps would make the roads safer and would decrease casualties caused by uninformed driving.
I have been in a car accident because another person was driving irresponsibly. I was in the car with my grandma and brother when we were slowing down at an intersection. The car behind us was distracted and wasn’t paying attention to the road. He didn’t see us or the stop sign ahead. Because he didn’t slow down in time, he rear ended us. While my brother and I weren’t injured, my grandmother had to wear a neck brace for a while. We were very fortunate that the accident wasn’t bad, but I know that irresponsible driving could lead to much worse incidents.
I strive to be a safer driver through practicing good driving habits. Some steps I can take to ensure this happens include being conscientious of how I’m driving, how others are driving, and touching up on my road knowledge. Doing my part will, in turn, help others be safer while driving by minimizing threats on the road.
Being an educated driver eliminates negligence on the road. The more educated driving we have, the less casualties there will be.
