Importance of Safe Driving

Driving is a great privilege that many of us take for granted. When one receives their first license, whether it is at the age of 16 years old or 25 years old we sign an imaginary contract of responsibility, not only for ourselves but for the many other lives on the road as well. Staying safe on the road is the number one rule of driving, although some people take risks while on the wheel and forget about that.

To begin having a proper education before having the ability to drive is very important. It is like going to take a test without preparation, unprepared knowing that you have a higher chance of failing. According to the UNL News Releases, drivers who have not completed a drivers ed are 75% more likely to get a traffic ticket, 24% more likely to be involved in a fatal or injury accident and 16% more likely to have an accident. Having a proper education before hitting the road is one of the many steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths on the road. Other steps that can be taken would always be wearing a seatbelt, driving sober, staying off the phone and avoiding driving late at night unless necessary.

I have never been in a car accident personally although, I do know a few friends who have. I have witnessed many friends and family members I know drive irresponsibly. In order for me to continue being a safe driver, I can continue to follow the laws in place that have to do with driving and also help others by expressing to those that act in any wrongdoing while driving and explaining to them the importance of safe driving.
