Drivers ed is the first and most important aspect to ensure driver safety, not only for oneself, but others on the road. Drivers ed is vital to reduce the number of deaths because of driving. If new drivers are not taught the rules of the road, how to act, how to react and how to be a safe driver in general, how can they be expected to do all those things. There are so many deaths because of driving simply because people do not have the proper knowledge in what to do and how to be safe. The more educated drivers are, the more they will know, the more they can be cautious, the more they can look out for themselves and others. By properly educating the current drivers and the new drivers, deaths because of driving can be reduced greatly. It is important to make sure a driver not only understands how to be a safe driver, but to understand the consequences they may have to deal with if they are not a safe driver. There are real consequences drivers must face if they chose not to be a safe driver, and it is important to understand what these may be. There are some steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths as a result of driving and one of them is to simply educate new drivers. This goal can be achieved by having students as they come around to the age of driving, take a mandatory drivers ed course at school. This should be a requirement for students because it will teach new drivers the way to be safe, by doing this all drivers will gradually be educated on the way to be the safest driver for themselves and others. The more educated each driver is, the less deaths there will be because of driving because more and more people will understand the real dangers of driving. To receive a license, a driver must prove they are educated and know the best ways to stay safe on the roads. I was in a car accident when I was an infant. It was not a bad car accident; our vehicle was rear ended, and no one was hurt thankfully. Other than this instance, I have never been in such a situation. I have witnessed people not driving responsibly, in todays society, cell phones are a huge problem when it comes to driving responsibly. People will text and drive and do other things on their phones such as check social media and their emails while driving. Distracted driving as such is not safe driving and this is the type of thing all drivers need to be educated on, especially as technology progresses. Distracted driving is the cause of so many accidents and many deaths because of driving, but yet most people still do not seem to understand the problem with it and the reality of just how dangerous it actually is. Every driver can take steps to be safer on the roads. I as a driver can makes sure I am maintaining the proper speed limit that is in place to keep save driving conditions. I can make sure I my following distance is enough for me to react in a timely fashion in case something was to happen. I can make sure my accelerations and breakings are gradual and not sudden, to keep those around me the safest they can be, that I can control. I can make sure I am taking my turns at safe speeds, and I can make sure that I am always paying full attention to the road, ready for anything to come my way. The first step to safer driving is to educate the drivers so there is a full understanding about the rules of the road. The first step to safer drivers is to simply know what it takes to be a safe driver for yourself and those around you.
