Proper Driving 

Drivers ed is important in reducing the death toll as a result of driving because it is the start of someone’s driving career and can set the example for how a good and respectful driver should be/act on the road. The teaching of driving education and learning the rules of the road is key in preventing serious accidents. Steps like learning what to do and what not to do on the road, driving the speed limit, looking for hand signals from other drivers, watching out for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcycles at all times can reduce the number of driving related deaths. 

I have never been in a car accident, but I have heard of a car accident that took one of my classmates’ lives. It was reckless driving and very unfortunate and unsettling to hear my classmate died at such a young age and not even getting the chance to graduate high school. His death could have easily been prevented if the driver was cautious and aware of his surroundings before attempting to drive recklessly for “fun”. Like many teens, having fun while driving can lead to major accidents especially while on a busy road. Which is why it’s important to take into account the consequences of something you are about to do on the road. 

I can be more cautious on the road, especially when first getting my license. Make sure to have a designated driver if I am drinking or someone in my family is, have someone older than 18 in the car with me the first year of me driving, when possible. I should take occasional rests on the road when feeling physically exhausted from work. As well as, if I’m not in the right state of mind because that could lead to a purposely driven accident.
