Why The World Needs Drivers Ed Programs
Driving is always a very dangerous thing. But a person can make driving less dangerous when they do their part to prevent getting in a car accident by keeping their eyes on the road and not driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. And also, by not driving while they are tired or after taking a medicine that causes drossiness. Drivers ed can help teenage drivers and adult drivers learn the basics of driving and master the basics of driving before they take the driver’s license road test to get their driver’s license. Many teenagers and young adults need to master the basics of driving in a drivers ed program so that they do not get in a car accident the first week they have their driver’s license. But I will also say that everybody is different. And some teenagers and young adults that were never in a drivers ed program have never been in any car accidents and have never gotten any speeding tickets. I know this is a fact because I am one of them.
But for many other teenagers and young adults who never went in a drivers ed program and got in car accidents, they might have benefitted from being in a drivers ed program before they got their driver’s licenses because they probably would have memorized more. And with the rate of car accidents in 2020, if it would help many teenagers and young adults before they get their license, then I am all for it. I was a victim of a moderately severe car accident myself when a young 20 something or maybe an 18 or 19 year old girl bumped into the back of my car when I was at a red light when she was not paying attention to the road while she was driving. The car accident could have been way worse if she was going faster before she pushed her brakes too late when she drove toward me. And I looked in my rear-view mirror and saw that she was talking to her boyfriend or her friend the second she rear-ended my car. This was the only car accident I was in and as you can see, was not my fault. If a lot of teenagers and young adults start focusing more on the road and less on their cell phones or passengers joking around in the backseats being distractions while they are driving, the rate of car accidents in the USA and in the rest of the world would probably greatly decline.
Furthermore, if I was teaching a friend how to drive, one thing I would probably tell them is something my dad taught me before I got my driver’s license when he let me drive his car with him in the front seat next to me. “Your left foot does not exist” while you are driving a car. Pretend like you don’t have a left foot. Because you only need your right foot for the gas and brake pedals. I always use this method when I drive my car and it has always been and always will be very good for me.
