Drivers Ed in High School

  • What is the importance of drivers ed in reducing the number deaths as a result of driving?

  • What steps can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving?

  • Have you ever had an experience of being in a car accident or have seen your friends or family members driving irresponsibly?

  • What steps can you take to be a better and safer driver as well as help others become safer on the road?

The more educated you are on a topic, the easier it is to make educated decisions regarding that topic. This applies to drivers ed as well. The more knowledgeable drivers are regarding rules and regulations on the road, the more likely they are to adhere to them. I understand that currently in the United States, not all schools offer drivers ed courses in high school. I think that in order to make sure everyone is informed on driver safety. Adding drivers ed to high school curriculums across the country would make a huge impact on the number of deaths related to driving.

In my personal experience, I have seen friends who have not had any formal training become drivers at eighteen or nineteen years old. At that age, most states do not require formal training to take the written test. This is a problem in my eyes, because those individuals miss out on the fundamentals of driving. I believe that our streets will be much safer once we add drivers ed to the high school curriculum, along with all of the other “important” classes that prepare our children for the world.
