Safe Driving – What Makes
It So Important?

Click It or
Ticket, don’t text and drive, don’t drink and drive; The three
most basic skills taught to new drivers. They are taught to be
attentive, responsible, and most importantly, careful, on the road.
But, until you’ve been in a serious accident, or been around
someone who has, you will never understand how important It is to be
cautious while driving. I hope this gives some insight.

Today, about
3287 people died because of reckless driving accidents. Nearly
1.25 million
people
are killed

in
car
accidents each year
.
That means, on average,
auto
accidents

cause 3,287
deaths
per
day.
An additional 20-50 million
people
are injured or disabled. More than half of all
road
traffic
deaths
occur among young adults ages 15-44″ (Thewanderingrv.com). Three
thousand people lost someone they loved today, because of reckless
driving. Someone lost their daughter, someone lost their mother, and
someone lost their son. This morning, three thousand people left
their homes, not knowing they would never speak to their loved ones
again. Three thousand people didn’t get to say proper goodbyes to
their loved ones, and they will regret that for the rest of their
lives.

Proper
education is crucial when it comes to be a cautious driver. Driving
schools, handbooks, and safe practice is the best way to ensure that
someone is properly trained behind the wheel. Avoiding these steps to
save money or time could cost someone their life.

The
most important things to remember when driving is to watch your
mirrors, changing traffic and road conditions, and to stay alert.
Texting while driving is one of the highest causes of accident
related deaths. Because someone had to text back their friend,
someone lost their fiancé.

I
was involved in a simple car accident, but it caused me to react to
driving much differently. I was hit by a city bus. It was loud, scary
and shook me around a lot. But thankfully I was okay, I had no
injuries, my car got it worse than I did. It’s something I will never
forget, and I can’t imagine how it would have been if the bus or I
were going any faster. I’m grateful that my accident was only minor,
others are not so lucky.

I
wish people understood just how dangerous driving can be. You can
kill someone in an instant. It is a feeling you will never be able to
get rid of, it is a guilt that will never go away. It’s a pain that
you will have to live with for the rest of your life, knowing your
simple reckless actions took away someone’s everything.

you so much for reading my scholarship essay!
