Drivers ed is a great program to help teenagers who are new to such experience. What steps can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving? Well, there are a lot of steps and solutions, but the most important is being a responsible and an aware driver. Individuals should always buckle up as it could help with not having severe injuries if ever in an accident. Individuals should never take the wheel under the influence of alcohol. Most accidents are the cause of a very inattentive and drunk driver. Individuals should always look ahead and frequently check the surroundings of the car to see that they are driving properly. These steps along with good skills and knowledge can help an individual be a very successful driver.
Unfortunately, on a very early morning, my mom was driving me to school. It was January and the new year started a little rocky than expected. We were in the line waiting for the traffic to discern so that I could reach school and suddenly we heard a bang. Our car jerks forward and we took a couple of seconds to even register what had happened. After getting ourselves together, we realized that we had been a victim to a car accident. The truck behind us had a very inattentive driver and he was speeding which resulted in his truck bumping into our car. Luckily no one was hurt or injured but my mom’s car ended up being totaled. This experience seemed very surreal and it hurts to know that there are many others who have had the same experience and maybe even in a more terrifying situation. Hence, these situations could have been avoided if the drivers can be attentive.
I turned 16 a couple months ago and I have been learning to drive. To make my driving experience safer I had taken a drivers ed program and when I am practicing on the road, I try to be very attentive and considerate. I plan to keep this attitude everytime that I am driving. To also help others be safer, I always have discussions with my friends and family on how to drive safely and how they could also drive safely and follow the protocols. I would like to consider everyone else’s safety along with mine when I am driving. I support and recommend other drivers to follow this as well so that the roads can be safer and the accident rates can be lower.
