Drivers ed is essential for allowing one to be knowledgeable and prepared when on the road. It is the driver’s responsibility to understand the rules of the road and the conditions that they are driving in. This will help diminish the number of deaths as a result of driving.

Drivers ed provides everyone mastery of both knowledge and skill for driving. When the driver drives on the road, the driver assumes the risk to oneself and others. Additionally, there are other things to keep in mind; If the driver experiences an accident, then there are payments that need to be made. For instance, medical bills, legal fees, cost to repair, and the list can go on depending on the type of accident. In addition, this can impact one’s mental or physical state. One may be left with lasting trauma or disability that can significantly impact a person’s life.

There are several steps one can take to reduce the number of deaths related to driving, but one key aspect is awareness. When on the road, it is crucial to be aware of the road conditions in order to prevent potentially fatal accidents. In the United States, one of the leading causes of car accidents is distracted drivers. Here are some examples of common distractors: using an electronic device, dealing with noisy kids, and rubbernecking. Anything can happen in an instant, so it is important to eliminate/lessen the number of distractions.

I personally have not experienced being in a car accident or have seen my friends or family members driving irresponsibly; however, I have witnessed how tragic car accidents can be on the news.

Steps for safer driving can vary depending on the situation (such as weather, people, road, etc.). Despite the various situations, the driver must remain calm. It allows the driver to clearly/quickly think of the best possible decision. A good way to become a better and safer driver is by integrating all the good habits of safe driving. This includes being alert, patient and educated.

Furthermore, one can help others become safer drivers by providing constructive criticism and helpful tips. In addition to that, it is good practice for drivers to continue to improve their driving skills and be well informed of safe driving techniques. Even though the driver may have already passed drivers ed exams (written exam and behind the wheel exam), the safety regulations and techniques can change over time.

In conclusion, it is helpful to remind ourselves of the rules of the road and the ability to integrate all the good habits of safe driving. This can reduce/prevent innocent lives from perishing due to human creation.
