Hello my name is Latasha Duarte, I started driving in 2002, I was only 15. On my 15th birthday I was taught how to drive by my father . Once I learned how to drive I was constantly borrowing other people’s cars to transport myself around. At the age of 17 I obtained a drivers learning permit. I was involved in no accidents however I started driving school because I saw the dangers on the road. My Godfather was killed in a car accident. He flew out the passenger side right out the windshield. He was beheaded from the glass, and my mother went through this same experience and survived. However my mother suffers from chronic nerve pain in her back.
To reduce the number of deaths caused by driving it is important to spread awareness of safe driving. As a responsible driver it is important to make sure that your passengers have a seat belt on. Even if you’re a good driver it is important to protect individuals in your vehicle by having them wear a seat belt. In both car accidents my Godfather and my mother’s both of the drivers were at fault for excessive speeding.
First step is to insure vehicle safety, individual safety, passenger safety. Making sure that the vehicle is inspected is very important. Driving a car that didn’t pass inspection could affect everyone on the road. Individual safety is a must if you’re unable to drive then don’t drive this will protect you from getting into a car accident. Having passengers put on seat belts will help insure their safety. However, driving the speed limit will also help insure safety for the passengers in the vehicle. Next be sure to always use your mirrors, and turn signals. Then always be safe than sorry look out for on-going traffic. Making sure that you look in the mirrors before backing out of a parking spot is very important. Watching out for traffic behind your vehicle, some drivers will tailgate and put other drivers in danger. If you watch out for tailgating you can switch lanes fast to avoid collagen. Watching cars on the side of your vehicle while in traffic will help reduce a car accident as well. Knowing the distance between you and other cars is also important. Not driving too close to other cars and paying attention to the lanes will also reduce a car accident. Also drive the correct speed limit, speed limits are created for safety and going over the speed limit will put everyone in the car, and others on the road in danger.
Driving fast around corners can cause your vehicle to flip over. Also if you’re driving in bad weather it is important to watch your vehicle’s speed. I was on my way to class and I was running late, so I decided to speed in a snowstorm. The snow had just started to fall, so I assumed I was safe to speed. However it’s never safe to speed. I flew off the highway into a snowbank and luckily I was able to drive out and still make it to class. However I could have lost my life due to speeding in bad weather conditions. Finally, be sure to watch out for traffic signs they are designed for precaution.
