Safe Driving Saves Lives
The importance of drivers ed is very significant in an adolescent’s life. It is important for a teenager to make sure they are following the rules of the road and are being careful. Many teens think that they are invincible to bad things happening to them, but anything is possible. Drivers ed has a big influence on limiting the number of deaths from car accidents because if the youth is taught how to drive thoroughly and efficient, then they are more likely to follow rules while driving. Having passengers in the car in also a huge distraction to the driver, but if the driver is taught well then, they shouldn’t have an issue and they will be more aware of their surroundings while driving. Some steps that can be taken to ensure driver safety could be to have classes when people re new their drivers license, or simply offer as many classes as needed. Personally, I have never been in car accident, but my twin brother was involved in one. We got our licenses in the summer on our birthday. He was turning left onto a busy street, with no traffic light, just a stop sign. In his mind he thought he has enough time, but in reality, that wasn’t the case. He was hit by the oncoming traffic to his left, then he spun around into the other side of traffic to his right and also got hit. His car was totaled the day after he got his license. In my opinion, I think he should’ve had more classes, he just wasn’t ready to drive as a person. Everyone learns differently and he just wasn’t ready. Thankfully, nobody was injured. A lesson that we both learned from the accident is to also double check when looking both ways and to always be 150% sure when making decisions in the car. After the accident, it hit home for my family members and I, because like I said earlier, anything is possible. It is so important to be aware of your surroundings, because anyone could end up losing a loved one to a small and stupid mistake.
