Why Drivers ed is Essential

I feel that the importance of drivers ed in regards to death from driving, it is a necessity. I went through a drivers ed course when I was of age and I learned so many things. If all kids took drivers ed during the process of getting their learners permit, it would result in more mature and educated drivers. Having educated drivers on the road would ultimately bring down deaths as a result of driving.

A big step that could be taken with great results would to be to make drivers ed a requirement to get a driver’s license. This would require everyone who wants to drive to go through driving school beforehand. It would make everyone safer on the road in trust that they are more responsible in following traffic laws etc. Another plausible solution would be to make everyone re test for their knowledge of common traffic laws after having their license for a certain time period. The age to get your permit could also be raised to ensure that people are mature enough to swallow and remember the information given to them.

There have been many times I have been in a car with an irresponsible driver. From not wearing a seatbelt to texting while driving, it all counts as unsafe. I personally have only ever been in a minor fender bender. We were driving downtown in my hometown of Boise, Idaho. A man behind us ran into us at a stop light. But my mother was in a pretty bad accident when I was very little, thankfully she was alright. It was the result of a very rainy day, and the roads were slick.

In order for me to be a better driver, I would make sure I am not distracted while behind the wheel. Investing in technology that reduces the distractions while driving would also be a good idea. As far as helping other become safer on the road, I have younger siblings who I can assist in making sure they are following the rules as well. Driving should not be stressful but there are a lot of things you have to consider and pay attention to in order to be a safe driver.
