Safe driving Essay
Being a driver on any road can be a fun, practical experience but at any moment it could turn deadly. Driving under the influence of alcohol, common drugs, and even technology is some of the most common reasons why accidents happen nowadays. Even for good drivers, looking away from the road for even a second could mean the end. That is why drivers ed is so important. If more people were aware of this less death due to car crashes would occur. More information that all drivers should know should be widely available and widely acknowledged.
There are many steps one can take to reduce the likelihood of death for themselves and others, first of which is to not text/use a phone while driving. Especially among the teenage population, texting while driving is one of the quickest ways to be in an accident. The second is to have licensed drivers assess and increase their knowledge of road rules by making them test every couple of years on road rules. People also should never drink and drive or be under the influence of any drug. Drinks and drugs both impair judgment which can be very costly when driving. Another step would be to make sure that all passengers including the driver are buckled in their seatbelt before and during transit. People should not drive while they are tired or while they are eating.
I have been in multiple car accidents. Seven years ago a truck ran a red light, T-boned our Jeep which sent us spiraling into a ditch. Fortunately, all passengers survived. There was also the occasion where my mother’s minivan got crushed by a semi-truck which she narrowly survived. I’ve witnessed friends texting and driving and I’ve also had to remind family members to put their seat belts on. People often think they are skilled enough to text or go without a seat belt which gives a false sense of security which can be dangerous.
There are several steps I can take to be safer on the road and not risk my life. Firstly, if I’m in a car with loud passengers I can ask them to quiet down. I can also leave my phone in a place where it’s not easily accessible. I can make sure everyone in the car including myself have a seat belt on and I can also make sure I am properly adhering to the rules of the road. I should avoid driving if I’m tired or under any kind of influence. I can also do my part to remind and correct others when they are not adhering to the rules of the road. I want to make sure that no one I love has to die from such a fade as a car crash oh, so I will do my part to adhere to the rules of the road not just for my sake but for other drivers as well.
