How Drivers ed Can Lead to Results That Would Help Us Drive Safer
One major problem we face here today is the number of deaths caused by car crashes. “In 2019, an estimated 38,800 people lost their lives to car crashes” (Fatality Estimates). Due to a lot of people’s reckless and unsafe driving, it has resulted in a lot of people getting killed so we need to do something about this. It’s would be extremely unlikely that we would be able to reduce the accident and death count but there are some ways where we can reduce that number drastically. Whether it is phone activity, not paying attention to surroundings or something else, I have witnessed my friends and family being unsafe drivers. When I was first learning how to drive, I took an after school drivers ed course at my high school before getting my license and this made me a safer driver so could this be a possible solution to this problem. If we all took a drivers ed course, this would result in major drops in the total death count from car crashes.
A major step we all could take to become much safer drivers is participate in a drivers ed course. When I took one of these courses, I didn’t just sit in the classroom learning about stuff I could encounter when on the road but actually went driving many times with one of the instructors where I learned how to do stuff like parallel park, highway and city driving, and more for myself. When doing this with an instructor, it effectively taught me how to do all that stuff safely and I apply it to when I’m driving even today. Through this experience, I became a much safer driver and I am sure the results would be similar if everyone else did something like this. To prove my point that everyone should do this to become safer drivers, as said by the drivers ed company Drive Safely, “results have shown that drivers who had taken a drivers ed course were involved in fewer crashes.” This point provides evidence that people that have taken a drivers ed course have gotten into fewer accidents than people who haven’t so this step that I mention would work in reducing the number of deaths through accidents. The working step that I would encourage everyone to do in order to help us all become more safer drivers is through a drivers ed course.
If we all took a drivers ed course, this would lead to major drops in the total death count from car crashes. Studies have proven that people who have done stuff like this have gotten into far fewer accidents. It’s not possible to completely solve this problem but if we take a few major steps, we can make it far less of a problem.
